Egypt Youth Mission Trip 2026
Pyramids, Great Egyptian Museum & a Shobra Culture Wash
This was a big highlight for the youth. We started the morning at the Great Pyramids, where the group soaked in the history, the views, and plenty of fun photos. From there, we visited the Grand Egyptian Museum, exploring incredible artifacts and getting a real sense of Egypt’s ancient story.
In the afternoon, we headed to Shobra Street for another energetic culture wash. The youth tried local snacks, practised their Arabic, interacted with the community, and experienced the everyday rhythm of Cairo in a lively, authentic way.

✨ A Blessed Day in Old Cairo
This was truly special. We spent the morning visiting the historic churches of Old Cairo, and the experience was nothing short of a blessing for all of us. Walking through these ancient, holy places filled the youth with awe and a deep sense of connection.

After our church visits, we stopped for lunch and introduced the youth to Koshary, one of Egypt’s most iconic dishes. The hot sauce was very hot, but spirits were high and plates were empty.
In the afternoon, we headed to the breathtaking St. Samaan the Tanner Church in El Mokattam — a powerful and uplifting stop for everyone.
We ended the evening exploring the vibrant streets of Khan El Khalili, soaking in the culture, colors, and energy. What a day!!!

Why we also focus on disabled kids
Unlike developed countries, children living in poverty have higher rates of disability and are more likely to be left untreated. This is due to greater government funding provided to support children with disabilities in developed countries, whereas government funding in third world countries are almost unheard of.
In poorer regions, a child with disability does not only face financial barriers to their development but cultural, social and educational barriers as well. Unfortunately, In many of these countries, a disabled child would be labeled as a cultural ‘shame’ to his/her family and in particular those with mental disabilities. Amongst many practices in poorer areas with limited funding, is spending the minimal funds a disabled child receives on their healthier siblings in order to afford them an education and a career to generate income for the whole family.
Fortunately, a number of non-government organisations are looking after these children in many ways in which there is a great need for donations to continue providing their support to these children. St Wanas Foundation is collaborating closely with some of these non-government organisations and with your help, we can provide continued care and education to less fortunate children in poorer areas around the world.
